We are a jazz ensemble that performs the music made famous by Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers. The Quintet was formed in 2012 by Stevie Smith and Thom Whitworth to challenge and inspire like minded musicians.
Our aim is to play with honesty, integrity and authenticity. The compositions and transcriptions of Benny Golson, Kenny Dorham, Bobby Timmons, Horace Silver, Freddie Hubbard, Hank Mobley and others are respectfully re-created. Our musical repertoire is part of an ever expanding library and reflects The Jazz Messengers recorded output between 1947-1990.
